SobreMesa Ministries – The Story Behind the Name

One of my favorite things is to go out to eat and then hang out and talk for a while with the people I love. A while ago a friend told me that in Spain, they call this lingering after a meal “sobremesa”. I have used this word with my good friends and my husband Lee many times. Literally the word translated from Spanish is “over the table.” I have a round kitchen table that I received from a friend when I was just getting settled into my first apartment. This table has been where I have a sobremesa with the Lord over breakfast and coffee for many mornings. He is always there, ready to hear and to speak through His word or still small voice. I have also had many friends sit across from me at this table for Bible study, conversation, prayer, and discipleship. Revelation 3:20 is an invitation from Jesus to join Him in eating and enjoying conviviality with Him. My heart is for people to draw closer to Him, to accept this invitation, sit and eat with Him, and discover His kindness and excellent wisdom and instruction.

Vision: To see women understand their worth and value in Christ, develop as disciples of Him, making disciples of others and serving Him in the church and in their areas of vocation in the world.

Mission: Disciple individuals, speak and teach to groups, and lead women to a closer walk with Christ. (Matt. 28:18-20, Rev. 3:20, Phil 3:10)
