Currently it’s my favorite time of year in Tucson, Arizona. We have had several long months of heat and now it is July and we are into the monsoons. These rains that come up from the Mexican deserts wash us clean and keep the air humid and the trees happily watered.
I’ve lived in Tucson since I was 5 years old. I’ve traveled many places worldwide and Tucson will always be the place I’d prefer to land. When I was 7 years old, an amazing thing happened. I realized my need for a Savior who provided forgiveness of sin and the gift of eternal life. Jesus has made all the difference to me and at age 10 I wanted to serve Him with my life.
My service to Him has taken me to the basketball court to start a Bible Basketball Club in my childhood neighborhood. I served teenagers for a summer through my church. I have traveled to Europe, Africa, Middle East, Central America, Caribbean, and North America. In those countries I worked with little kids, played basketball, taught Bible studies, laid concrete, helped facilitate a youth camp, assisted in medical missions, and shared Jesus with college students.
As a college student I was very involved in the Baptist Student Union. I loved every minute of it – the friends, the experiences, and growing to know Jesus better. After asking the Lord where He would want me to serve Him, He kept leading me to stay in Tucson. After I graduated from The University of Arizona I began serving as the Associate Director of the BSU with a focus on women’s ministry. After 10 years at the BSU, I began serving at a local church to help them begin their collegiate ministry. A year and a half later I was back at the BSU and have served now a total of 22 years with college students.
I am married to the love of my life who I waited 42 years to find. Lee has been such a fun fellow traveler on this journey of life. He loves the Lord, loves his family, loves people and loves playing the guitar. One day I will write out exactly how God put us together perfectly and in His perfect timing.
So, why another website in the mix? Aren’t there enough people fighting to be heard in the internet world? Do I really have anything good to say? Well, I’ve struggled with these questions and have come to the conclusion that some people might resonate with how I say something. I want people to know and understand who Jesus is and just maybe there’s a person who needs to hear it in the way I say it? Maybe? I believe God can use anything to draw people to Himself and maybe He just might use this website to do so. May God bless your journey with Him and thanks for joining me in mine!
